Arsenal 2-0 Manchester City

(Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 19’, 71’)

Arsenal are through to the FA cup final after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled up against the holders City.  The Gunners ruthlessly exposed City’s defensive deficiencies, as the apprentice beat the master.

As expected, City started the game off strong but then Arsenal slowly started recovering the ball. It was around 15 minutes into the game when Arsenal sprung to life, with Lacazette putting one past Ederson but VAR confirmed it was offside.

Aubameyang put Arsenal ahead in the 19th minute as Pepe played a beautiful cross from the right.  Leading up to the first goal there were 18 passes involved.

Arsenal almost let the lead slip before half time as Bellerin made an error but Xhaka’s quick thinking alleviated put the chance to deny De Bruyne’s.

The second half got off to a rapid start with City pushing for an equalizer but Arsenal were able to soak up all the pressure applied. Maitland Niles had a great game as he kept City’s potent attack at bay.

Match-winner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled up in the 71st minute. Pepe held the ball up on the half way line, and then passed to Tierney who clipped it down the line. Aubameyang who was free and was played onside by Mendy, put the ball between the keepers legs.

Winning the FA Cup would secure Europa League football.

Arsenal travel to relegation-threatened Aston Villa who are 19th in the table. The Tuesday night fixture kicks off at 20:15.
