Alex and Raheem lit up the Champions League stage for the second successive week as both of our stars got their names on the scoresheet in their respective games against Genk and Atalanta.

Alex’s swivel and strike against the Belgian side at Anfield on Tuesday night was his fourth goal in as many appearances for Liverpool whilst Raheem’s finish against the Serie A outfit on Wednesday evening was the 14th time he’s netted in all competitions this season.

Aside from their goals, both Alex and Raheem were heavily involved in dramatic clashes in Europe. Alex’s effort proved to be decisive in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Genk whilst Raheem and his Manchester City side were up against away to Atalanta.

City right-back Kyle Walker was forced to play as a goalkeeper for the final 10 minutes after substituted shot-stopper Claudio Bravo was sent-off. Raheem was quick to pick up on his fellow teammate’s bizarre position change on Twitter.

Alex’s recovery from a knee injury that kept him out for almost all of last season has also been acknowledged by the football world but the midfielder himself is still striving for greater heights:

Finally, the England internationals summarised their team’s performances through their own words on Instagram. Alex and Raheem now go head-to-head in Sunday’s top of the table showdown in the Premier League as Liverpool host City with kick-off at 4:30pm.
