Brief Report

Newly crowned Premier League Champions Liverpool overcame Aston Villa in their first game at Anfield since securing the title.

A somewhat subdued Liverpool were not at their fluent best in the first half, as Aston Villa put in a strong disciplined display to frustrate the champions and created a few chances of their own.

The second half followed a similar pattern until Sadio Mane converted following a slick move with Naby Keita 19 minutes from time.

Liverpool doubled their lead when youngster Curtis Jones struck with a precise finish to secure all three points for Liverpool and condemn Villa to another away defeat.
