17th January 2020

Colossal’s talents continue their riveting league campaigns with plenty of action coming up over the coming days.

Alex will be eager to continue Liverpool’s imperious 21-game unbeaten league streak as the league leaders host Manchester United in the Premier League’s televised blockbuster on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Cody and Martell will hope to replicate their sublime displays for Fulham’s U23s in the Premier League 2 clash away to Everton on Friday night.

All will be revealed in the latest edition of the weekend preview:

Game of the Week: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Opposition: Manchester United

Time: Sunday, 4:30pm

Venue: Anfield

TV: Sky Sports Main Event

Victory over rivals Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday would be a massive stride for Alex and Liverpool’s pursuit of a first Premier League title.

The midfielder has been a refreshing force in the Reds midfield in his first full season of action since suffering a major knee injury in April 2018, which kept Alex out for almost all of the last campaign.

As Alex has helped Liverpool lift the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup, his side’s morale couldn’t be higher. Having started in the away visit to Champions League finalists Tottenham Hotspur in the club’s last game, Alex remains a crucial asset for the league leaders.

Cody Drameh & Martell Taylor-Crossdale

Opposition: Everton (A)

Time: Friday, 7pm

Venue: Haig Avenue

Cody and Martell are set to be involved in Friday night action for Fulham’s Development Squad for the visit to Stockport in the away clash against Everton.

18-year-old Cody has been in a shining light in Fulham’s academy since the start of the year as the right-back’s strike sealed the U18s a place in the fifth-round of the FA Youth Cup with a 2-1 win against Sheffield United on Bramall Lane.

Meanwhile, Martell has adjusted swiftly to playing as an attacking midfielder from his natural centre-forward position with the former Chelsea talent being a creative spark for the club’s U23s.

David Sesay

Opposition: Walsall (A)

Time: Saturday 3pm

Venue: Bescot Stadium

David will be hopeful of making back-to-back appearances for Crawley Town for the visit to Walsall this Saturday.

The 21-year-old has been a revelation for the Red Devils in his inaugural full season with the first team, making 19 starts with fantastic moments including an EFL Cup run, helping the club reach the last 16 and defeating Premier League side Norwich in the process.

With Crawley currently in a mid-table skirmish in League Two, a win this weekend would see David’s side move into the top half of the fourth-tier.

Kasey Palmer

Opposition: Barnsley (H)

Time: Saturday, 3pm

Venue: Ashton Gate

Despite Bristol City’s early exit from the FA Cup in a 1-0 defeat away to Shrewsbury in midweek, Kasey made a second-half appearance in the replay encounter.

The Robins’ midfielder added further presence to the side chasing Premier League promotion as Kasey was trusted to help his team advance in the competition with the game heading for extra-time until Shrewsbury’s last-minute winner.

Switching attention back to the Championship will bring renewed focus for the 23-year-old, who could make his 50th senior career start as City host Barnsley at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

Marvin Johnson

Opposition: Fulham (A)

Time: Friday, 7:45pm

Venue: Craven Cottage

TV: Sky Sports Football

Starting in the FA Cup third-round replay in Tottenham Hotspur’s renovated stadium on Tuesday night was a memorable experience for Marvin having played non-league football just six years ago.

Marvin and his Middlesbrough side raised a challenge to Jose Mourinho’s men, falling just short of a cup upset in the 2-1 loss in north-London, with the 29-year-old completing the full 90 minutes.

Returning to Championship action, another away test at promotion hopefuls Fulham will be an opportunity Marvin will certainly relish in the hopes to extend Boro’s five game unbeaten run in the second-tier.

Raheem Sterling

Opposition: Crystal Palace

Time: Saturday, 3pm

Venue: Etihad Stadium

With a sublime 20 goal-tally just over halfway through the season for quadruple holders Manchester City, Raheem will be vying to be the difference maker once again as Crystal Palace visit the Etihad on Saturday.

Raheem has netted six times in his career against Palace, having also made an impact in the reverse fixture in October as his assist broke the deadlock with City winning 2-0 at Selhurst Park.

With 30 appearances to his name in the campaign thus far, a rest in City’s previous match away to Aston Villa will see a fully fit Raheem desperate to chip away at a 14-point deficit behind Alex’s Liverpool in the top-flight.

Reece Oxford

Opposition: Borussia Dortmund (H)

Time: Saturday, 2:30pm

Venue: WWK Arena

Reece will hope to start his 2020 with a bang as the 21-year-old returns from the German football winter break with the hope of a successful second-half of the season.

The former England U17 captain experience competitive clashes for Augbsurg last year, including starting in the 2-2 home draw against Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich back in October.

The defensive midfielder will be confident of seeing off another stern test in Borussia Dortmund, as Augsburg look to push for the European competition places in an extremely competitive league.
