Liverpool 1-0 Everton
Alex returned to action for Liverpool after suffering an ankle injury from the Club World Cup final victory over Flamengo as the Premier League leaders knocked out Everton in the FA Cup on Sunday.
In a match that was relatively even up until Alex’s substitution, the midfielder made an instant impact as Curtis Jones’ scored just a minute later to continue the club’s dominance over their closest rivals.
Alex himself had a great chance to score moments after the opener, with the midfielder darting into the box with the ball and cutting inside before having his effort saved by Jordan Pickford.
The England international rounded off his comeback into the side, completing 92% of his passes as the 26-year-old helped his young teammates win the Merseyside derby at Anfield.
What Does This Mean?
Alex and his side await their fourth-round opponents with the draw to be made on Monday night.
A visit to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium is up next for Alex as Liverpool search for further inroads in their quest to lift a first top-flight title in 30 years.
