Raheem Sterling

Scoreline Summary

Man City 2-1 Southampton

(Aguero 70’, Walker 87’ – Ward-Prowse 13’)

Brief Report

Raheem completed the entirety of Manchester City’s 2-1 victory at home to Southampton on Saturday.

Unsurprisingly, City dominated possession. However, Raheem and his were made to work throughout the encounter after the visitors took a surprising early lead. Goals from Sergio Aguero and Kyle Walker deep into second-half eventually got the champions over the line.

Whilst City earned three crucial points in the Premier League, Raheem will naturally be disappointed that he couldn’t increase his emphatic goalscoring record this season of 13 goals in all competitions for his club.

What Does This Mean?

City are still second in the Premier League after this victory, with league leaders Liverpool firmly in their sights.

What’s Next?

Raheem travels to Italy next in matchday four of the Champions League away to Atalanta as Man City look to advance to the knockout stages with two group games to spare on Tuesday night.

Highlights

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Scoreline Summary

Aston Villa 1-2 Liverpool

(Trézéguet 21’ – Robertson 87’, Mane 94’)

Brief Report

Alex turned around a huge result for Liverpool in their title chase at Aston Villa on Saturday as Andrew Robertson and Sadio Mane’s strikes cancelled out Trézéguet’s opening goal for the hosts.

With 25 minutes remaining and Liverpool 1-0 down, Alex’s introduction into the match was a timely one as the Reds went up through the gears as the midfielder was desperate to make his impact on the match.

Alex certainly did this, with the visitor’s scoring twice at the death, confirming the resilience the 26-year-old and his teammates currently possess.

What Does This Mean?

Liverpool remain six points at the top of the Premier League table after eleven matches played.

What’s Next?

Alex’s team host Genk in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, with Liverpool second in Group E, a point behind leaders Napoli.

Marvin Johnson

Scoreline Summary

Derby County 2-0 Middlesbrough

(Lawrence 22’ 84’)

Brief Report

All isn’t going well for Marvin and his Middlesbrough side with the club remaining in the Championship relegation zone after a 2-0 away defeat at Derby County.

Tom Lawrence’s brace was enough for the home side to take three points and whilst Marvin played 80 minutes of the clash, George Saville’s first-half red card made it tough for the winger to take control of proceedings.

Jonathan Woodgate’s side will certainly need a lift after another league loss as the pressure continues to mount on Marvin.

What Does This Mean?

Boro are currently 22nd in the second-tier, two points outside the bottom three with Luton Town a place above them.

What’s Next?

Marvin’s side are on the road to south-west London next Saturday as they face Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road in the Championship.
