In partnership with Clarks Originals, Colossal Sports Management are delighted to announce the launch an exciting new collaboration with our client Raheem Sterling.
This exciting new partnership will see Raheem launch his very own custom-made Wallabee shoe under the identity of ‘1692’.
Born and raised in the Maverley district of Kingston, Jamaica, the rich cultural heritage of his birthplace has played a hugely important role in his life – and continues to do so to this very day.
So, when Raheem moved from Kingston to London, growing up in Wembley, it was only natural he try and bring a bit of island style to his new home.
By selling slushies to school mates, he was able to save up and buy himself his very first pair of Wallabees. They instantly made their debut out on the playground, and to this day, Raheem still talks about the dip and power they gave him during those early games.
It’s this story, these roots, that make him the perfect choice to collaborate with on the design of a new limited-edition Wallabee – one that he wants the whole island of Jamaica to be proud of and feel a connection to.
A style that has been loved in Jamaica since it was first released back in 1967, when it flew off the shelves and onto the feet of some reggae’s most influential artist.
Available in a striking khaki colourway, with dual branded fobs and socks that all feature Raheem’s signature, each pair comes with two sets of waxed cotton laces for easy personalisation. Our signature crepe outsoles have also been dyed black to add an arresting element of originality.
Because Raheem wants the whole of Jamaica to be proud of and feel a connection to this shoe, the tongue lining features the national motto – “Out of many, one people.” – while the upper pays tribute to the year Kingston was founded, 1692.
Raheem’s heritage in Jamaica is something that he is so proud of, and giving back to Jamaica is so important to him.
Which is why he, in collaboration with Clarks Originals, has set up a community partnership with Maverley Primary & Junior High School in Kingston, Raheem’s alma mater.
He is also making available a pair of brand new Wallabees for all the kids at the school. Likewise, Raheem’s Wembley school, has also been considered with a ‘Back To School’ shoes donation will be made to the school where he learnt to finesse his skills in his Wallabees.
