Tariq Uwakwe
Tariq Uwakwe

A central midfielder who joined Chelsea’s academy aged nine, Tariq Uwakwe was a key player for the U18s before signing a three-year professional contract in June 2019.

The versatile youngster played a prominent role under Jody Morris in the U18s side in 2016/17 as the Blues romped to a treble, missing just one game in the victorious run in the FA Youth Cup, and scoring the winning goal in a decisive league match against Liverpool. The following season, Tariq made 42 appearances, including making his debut in the UEFA Youth League in October.

With Morris returning as part of the management team under new Blues boss Frank Lampard, Tariq is hungry for first-team opportunities this season.
